IAP2

Kimbra White is the Australian Vice President of the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2). Kimbra also represents Australia on the International Board of IAP2.

Kimbra is trained and experienced in using the frameworks developed by the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2). These frameworks provide a spectrum of community engagement options based on an increasing level of public impact. Within the IAP2 Spectrum there are five levels: Inform, Consult, Involve, Collaborate and Empower. Each of these levels has a different goal, a different promise to the public and suggested techniques.

An important role Kimbra plays is in helping to build and maintain community trust, which is so critical to an organisation’s reputation. One of the most frustrating things for community members is to be asked for their views on a proposal, only to be ignored by the decision makers. Telling the community what will happen after a community engagement activity is fundamentally important and the IAP2 Spectrum provides a set of promises from "We will keep you informed" to "We will implement what you decide."

More information about the IAP2 Spectrum can be found on the IAP2 Website.
