My Favourite Books

The Art of Focused Conversation, R Brian Stanfield (ed) for the Institute of Cultural Affairs.

This is the book that sets out the ORID method of conversations based on a set of questions moving through Objective, Reflective, Interpretive and Decisional (ORID). This is a great framework for crafting questions that I have used for a long time. I have only recent purchased the book and so now only reading the theory and have access to hundreds of examples.

The Perfection of the Morning: An Apprenticeship in Nature by Sharon Butala.
Not only a fabulous description of the landscape of the southern Canadian plans, Sharon Butala reflects deeply on value that is derived from truly living within nature from her experience of leaving city and academic life for a life on a Canadian ranch. It was recommended to me by a colleague after I had expressed my desire to link the purpose of my facilitation practice to place.

Life is a Verb: 37 Days to Wake Up, Be Mindful, and Live Intentionally by Patti Digh.
Based on Patti's award-winning blog, 37 days, Life is a Verb is not your average self-help book. It's a witty and inspiring journey through stories that challenge and inspire. It's core message — live each and every precious day intentionally.
